# Explain GPT to a 5 year old

GPT means “Generative Pretrained Transformer“

think of it like a magic pen -

1. you write - “tell me a story about monkey and crocodile“

2. the magic pen would then think “hmm! i know alot of stories about monkeys and crocodiles - let me make a new story just for you !“

3. the pen then writes a new story using what it learned

think of generative as - makes brand new sentence

think of pretrained as - he is a topper he has knows about every book

think of transformer as - magic brain that remembers which word comes after which

GPT is similar to the magic pen - just inside a computer !
